Vegas Dining News: 4 Vegas Restaurants Earn Michelin Stars, High Mis-steaks
Las Vegas’s dining scene took center stage Wednesday night when the 2026 Michelin Guide ceremony at the Fontainebleau acknowledged four Strip-area restaurants. Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand earned two stars, while L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Restaurant Guy Savoy, and É by José Andrés each received one.
Michelin Stars Return to Las Vegas
This year’s awards marked the first time any Las Vegas restaurant qualified for a Michelin star since the guide dropped its standalone Las Vegas edition after just two years in 2008–2009. Rather than relaunching a separate city guide, Michelin created an expanded American Southwest edition covering Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. California remains a separate Michelin region.
Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand ended up with the most stars of any restaurant in the new Southwest guide. Still, its two stars represent one fewer than the restaurant received the last time Las Vegas was included in Michelin’s rankings.
Why the Results Missed the Mark
Despite nearly two decades of explosive growth on the Strip, the 2026 awards hardly reflected that evolution. Three of the four starred restaurants were legacy names from the 2008 and 2009 editions, and both Joël Robuchon and Restaurant Guy Savoy dropped a star from their previous ratings.
Perhaps most notably, no restaurant in the entire Southwest region earned three stars — Michelin’s highest honor. By comparison, 10 California restaurants received three stars in the 2026 guide.

Dining Ins & Outs
Rio Rebrands High Steaks to High Stakes
High Steaks at the Rio has been renamed High Stakes just 10 months after opening. The change came after Thunder Valley, a tribal casino in Lincoln, California, notified owner James Trees that its own steakhouse already claimed the punny name.
Luckley Tavern Becomes Revolution Tavern & Grill
In another Rio rebranding move reported by Vital Vegas, Luckley Tavern has been renamed Revolution Tavern & Grill. The new name aligns with the casino resort’s push to bring several food concepts in-house after previously operating them through third-party partnerships.
Marathon Burger Expanding to Las Vegas
Marathon Burger, the wagyu smashburger concept created in Los Angeles to honor the late Grammy-winning rapper Nipsey Hussle, is heading to Las Vegas. An exact location and opening date haven’t been announced, but the Vegas outpost will be the brand’s first drive-thru location.
Mulberry Street Pizzeria Leaving Resorts World
Mulberry Street Pizzeria will close its Resorts World location in mid-September. The resort reportedly chose not to renew the L.A. brand’s five-year lease and plans to bring in a replacement pizza concept. Mulberry Street is currently scouting a new Strip location.
Mama Chai’s in Chinatown Closing
Popular Chinatown bakery and tea shop Mama Chai’s will shut its doors on Aug. 30.
