Lucky Middletown Resident Wins $1 Million
According to the New York Lottery’s official announcement, a lucky winner from Middletown, Orange County, New York, has secured a life-changing $1,000,000 top prize from a scratch-off ticket. The winner was later identified as Penny Smith.
Smith, lottery officials confirmed, won her payout on a 50Xtra scratch-off ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at East Main Sunoco, located at 209 East Main St. in Middletown.
Smith visited the New York Lottery headquarters to claim her winnings. When given the choice between an annuity (full sum paid over time) or a one-time lump sum of $442,681, she opted for the lump sum.
