Flutter and EPIC Expand Safer Gambling Support for FAI National League

Flutter Entertainment and EPIC Global Solutions have reaffirmed their commitment to gambling awareness in Ireland by extending a successful program with the FAI National League. The initiative will include all 15 founding National League clubs by the end of 2026, building on a strong start that has already reached over 2,000 League of Ireland players and FAI staff since January.

Program Expansion Marks a Milestone

Ireland’s National League, which kicked off for the first time last month, represents the third tier of the country’s football pyramid. Since the program began, more than 70 EPIC-led workshops have been delivered, with the FAI calling them a “huge success story.”

League of Ireland officials are confident that the workshops provide valuable insights, helping to shape targeted support messaging and harm prevention strategies. “The impact of this program across the League of Ireland has been a huge success story,” said Garret Higgins, Interim FAI National Competitions Lead. “So naturally, we’re incredibly grateful to see this extended to our new FAI National League teams.”

Flutter’s Broader Safer Gambling Investments

This announcement follows Flutter’s significant $139 million (£102 million) global investment in EPIC’s safer gambling capabilities. A substantial portion—$75 million—was directed specifically toward the UK and Ireland as the Paddy Power, Betfair, and Sky Bet owner intensifies its responsible gambling efforts.

New ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Leeds

Flutter’s safer gambling push goes beyond this collaboration. The NYSE-listed company recently launched a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Leeds, a dedicated hub for collaboration, learning, and experimentation in responsible gambling and customer protection. Leeds has become a key location for Flutter’s safer gambling initiatives. Last month, the company also extended its partnership with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, increasing annual funding from £25,000 to £36,000 to create a positive impact in the city.

Impact and Testimonials

Flutter has worked closely with EPIC for several years, and the Ireland expansion is the latest example of that partnership. Paul Buck, Chief Executive Officer of EPIC, commented: “We have delivered similar programs across a wide range of sports globally, but our partnership with the League of Ireland has proven to be one of our most effective yet.”

He added: “The number of players who are now confident in their knowledge around gambling awareness has reached 89%. That validates everything we’ve built this program around. When education comes from former players who’ve lived these experiences, it resonates. The expansion to FAI National League teams will amplify this impact across the entire pathway.”
