Booming Games appoints Michael Waterfield as chief commercial officer
Booming Games Names Michael Waterfield as Chief Commercial Officer
The Malta-based iGaming supplier continues its executive restructuring with its fourth C-suite appointment in less than nine months, as the company pursues regulatory approvals across all major markets within two years. B2B slot providers are intensifying their competition for senior commercial talent amid expanding regulated markets and the need to convert content distribution into sustainable revenue. On 2 September 2026, Booming Games appointed Michael Waterfield as Chief Commercial Officer, marking the latest addition to its leadership team.
Fourth C-Suite Hire in Nine Months
Booming Games has named Michael Waterfield as Chief Commercial Officer, the company’s fourth senior leadership appointment since January 2026. The Malta-based supplier previously added a Chief Operating Officer, Chief of Staff, and Chief Financial Officer in quick succession earlier this year. These moves signal a structured effort to professionalize the company’s commercial and operational functions ahead of a planned global market expansion.
Waterfield brings nearly two decades of experience across both the supplier and operator sides of iGaming. He spent almost five years at White Hat Studios, rising from VP Commercial to SVP Commercial and Corporate Strategy, and played a central role in the studio’s North American expansion. White Hat Studios entered an agreement to be acquired by Merkur Group on 15 July 2026, pending regulatory approval. Prior to White Hat Studios, Waterfield held commercial leadership positions at NetEnt as Head of Commercial Strategy and at GVC as Commercial Manager for Casino. He began his career in finance and business intelligence, spending eight years at Talarius in roles including Commercial Finance Manager, Business Intelligence Manager, and Interim Financial Controller.
Scope of the Commercial Role
In his new position, Waterfield will lead Booming Games’ commercial function across account management, sales, market strategy, and commercial performance. The company has stated a goal of obtaining regulatory approval in every major global market within the next two years — an ambition that will require both a strengthened deal structure and tighter integration between product, sales, and business intelligence functions.
Michael Waterfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Booming Games, said: “My early priorities will include working closely with the Product and Business Intelligence teams to further strengthen our discipline around pricing, promotions, and deal structure, to ensure the pipeline we are building converts at the pace our roadmap deserves.”
Ramona Petrina, Chief of Staff at Booming Games, added: “His track record is second to none; he has held commercial leadership on both sides of our industry, at scale, and has done the numbers as well as the deals. A key goal for us in the coming months is to ensure even greater alignment between what we build, how we sell it, and how we measure it.”
