Basketball takes over sports gambling on Bodog

Basketball Surges to the Top of Bodog’s Betting Charts

As expected, the end of the NFL season—marked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers handing the Kansas City Chiefs a lopsided defeat—has sparked a surge in wagering on other sports. Football had dominated the betting charts since last September, but basketball has now taken the lead. On Bodog, NBA and NCAA Men’s Basketball have become the top choices for sports gamblers.

Weekend Wagering Breakdown: NCAA Leads the Pack

Over the past weekend, college basketball bets topped the charts on Bodog, accounting for 36.88% of all wagers. That was about 2.5% more than the NCAA received, and a significant margin ahead of third-place NHL, which managed just 10.17%. UFC and MMA followed with 4.15%, while several soccer leagues captured four of the remaining top-ten spots.

The Premier League led the soccer group with 3.34% of bets, while tennis and golf also made strong showings. The Australian Open Men’s Singles drew 3.21% of wagers, and the Genesis Invitational golf tournament attracted 2.47%. Germany’s Bundesliga and Spain’s La Liga each had 2.02%, with Italy’s Serie A rounding out the list at 1.44%.

Top Betting Events: NBA Dominates the Action

Despite taking the top spot on the charts, NCAA games didn’t prove especially enticing to bettors on an individual level. The NBA captured almost all of the top-ten most-wagered events, with only one college game making the list.

Sports gamblers showed a strong preference for the LA Clippers. Their games against the Utah Jazz and the Brooklyn Nets drew 13.85% and 11.51% of bets, respectively. In a surprise, the Clippers beat the Jazz on Friday but couldn’t sustain the momentum, losing to the Nets on Sunday.

The Genesis Invitational, which Max Homa won in a playoff against Tony Finau, attracted 10.79% of Bodog’s wagers over the weekend. Homa knows the Riviera Country Club course intimately, having played there regularly since he was two years old. With this win, he joins Bubba Watson as the only two players to claim a victory at Riviera with a bogey-free final round since 1990.

NBA action continued to dominate Bodog’s list, with three more games each getting over 10% of the wagers. Next, the NCAA matchup between Michigan and Ohio State proved popular, drawing 9.07% of all bets. Third-ranked Michigan handed fourth-ranked Ohio State a loss, walking away with a 92-87 win to improve to 16-1.

Novak Djokovic’s straight-sets victory over Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final attracted 8.58% of bets. The final top-ten event on Bodog flipped back to the NBA, with the Sacramento Kings vs. Milwaukee Bucks and the Golden State Warriors vs. Charlotte Hornets games taking 7.63% and 7.5% of wagers, respectively.
