ATG Appoints New Tech Leadership to Revolutionize Swedish Racing Systems

In a bold move to modernize its operations, AB Trav och Galopp (ATG), Sweden’s leading totalisator betting operator, has announced the creation of a dedicated product department. This strategic initiative aims to overhaul its online betting platform and wagering services, set to take effect from 1 October 2026. Spearheaded by Jörgen Forsberg, Acting CEO, this restructuring is part of ATG’s broader vision to enhance its corporate performance and investment strategies.

Key Objectives of the New Product Department

The newly established product department focuses on three core areas:

  1. Product Development: Innovating and refining digital products to meet evolving customer needs.
  2. Commercial Operations: Streamlining marketing and sales strategies to boost revenue.
  3. IT Enhancements: Ensuring stable, secure, and scalable technological infrastructure.

According to Lotta Nilsson, CFO and Deputy CEO, “By assigning clearer responsibilities to the product department, we can better prioritize our resources and development efforts where they matter most. This will ultimately translate into superior gaming experiences for our customers.”

Leadership Changes Driving the Transition

Jesper Komstadius: Chief Product Officer

Jesper Komstadius, previously Head of Product, has been promoted to Chief Product Officer (CPO). With a rich background including roles such as Nordic Marketing Manager at Samsung, Komstadius will lead the new department and join ATG’s management team. His mandate is to drive innovation in ATG’s digital offerings, ensuring they remain competitive in the rapidly evolving betting industry.

Therese Haeggblom Widmark: Chief Information Officer

Therese Haeggblom Widmark, previously Acting CIO, has been officially appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO). She succeeds Daniel Santikos, who is set to leave the company this autumn. Widmark’s responsibilities include maintaining stable and secure IT operations, cybersecurity, and overseeing platform and data management.

“Both Jesper and Therese bring extensive experience and deep knowledge of ATG’s operations. Their expertise will be invaluable as we continue to evolve our management team and overall company strategy,” Nilsson added.

Strategic Reorganization Across Divisions

Commercial Division Overhaul

ATG’s Commercial division, led by Katarina Widman, Chief Commercial Officer, will undergo significant changes. The restructuring aims to integrate responsibilities across horse betting, sports betting, and casino offerings, ensuring a cohesive approach to marketing and sales.

Saturday Racing Programme Updates

As part of its broader strategy, Svensk Travsport is reviewing its Saturday racing program to ensure races are more evenly matched and competitive. This initiative aims to enhance the betting experience for customers. Additionally, ATG plans to relaunch its flagship Saturday racing pool, V75, on 28 November, replacing V85.

ATG’s Financial Impact and Industry Role

ATG is owned by Sweden’s trotting and galloping sports organizations, including Svensk Travsport and Svensk Galopp. In 2025, the group reported revenues of SEK 6 billion, with surplus funds reinvested into the racing industry. Last year alone, ATG contributed approximately SEK 2.3 billion to these organizations, underscoring its critical role in supporting Swedish racing.

Conclusion: A Future-Focused Transformation

ATG’s restructuring and leadership appointments signal a commitment to innovation and customer-centricity in the competitive betting landscape. By leveraging the expertise of its new tech leaders and streamlining its operations, ATG is poised to deliver enhanced gaming experiences while reinforcing its position as a key player in Swedish racing.
